YOU CAME TOWARDS ME…
And you came toward me with a peninsular gaze
the noblest of tear ducts,
a classic pate
and the pride of titans in your veins,
with the punic wars still palpitating,
and the folly of a thousand lost battles on your shoulders,
swift swipe of the willow as you climb the mountain crest,
and your right hand and your left hand in love, respectively,
with the legends of Homer
and the trains that cross continents down my back,
with a pocket full of tin mysteries and promises of silicate nights,
and a cold lime well holding all the drugs
that have kept us tied so long to the port of this Greek city,
with apples fermented over the slow simmer of love,
with love scalded in the brusque fire of thirst,
with astute little lizard eyes,
with the deep sleep of the provinces of Spain,
with the dream dwarf's seven cards up your sleeve
and a multicolored spool to spin the yarn of the planets.
For me, just for me, you came,
and behind you the evening stretched across countries like a strange shadow.

HANDS
Hands represent consciousness: efficiency, work, adaptation, inventiveness, self-expression and willingness to achieve creative and destructive goals. Hand language transcends nations and epochs and marks the difference between humans and animals: the manual domain of tools and instruments is a sign of mastery and power. In Hebrew, yad means hand and power. All civilizations have used the language of hands. In the Egyptian hieroglyphic system, the hand means action and strength. For Buddhism, the closed hand is an image of secrecy and hermetism and the Buddha is usually depicted with his hands open because he has nothing to hide. In the Biblical tradition, hands are a symbol of supreme and inexorable designs: Jeremiah and Elijah start to follow his inner voice when touched by the hand of God. In Islamic culture, hands mean authority, protection, and power, they are often used as amulets. In the peoples of ancient America and the Roman Empire they had similar connotations. Hands have similarities with the eyes: they are perceptual tentacles that capture a lot of information, conscious and unconscious, about the environment. Note that, like the mouth, hands have more nerve connections than the rest of the body. Finally, the hand with its five fingers can be seen as a synthesis of the human figure — four limbs and the head — and if we were to expand on the symbolism of number five — love, health, quintessence — we could still discover more faces of the fascinating microcosmos of hands, but everything has an end, and we need to know when it’s time to say goodbye and happy new year.

VENIES CAP A MI…
